Dubrovnik was the first stop on our trip to Croatia. Dubrovnik has surged in popularity in recent years because of the show Game of Thrones, which is partly filmed in Dubrovnik. Unfortunately, Patrick and I do not watch Game of thrones but we still appreciated the beauty of Dubrovnik! It’s on the Adriatic Coast and everywhere you look is beautiful! Croatia is definitely no longer “undiscovered,” it was PACKED when we were there in June.
What to do in Dubrovnik:
Here are some of our favorite things we did in Dubrovnik:
Walk the city walls: This is one of the best things to do in Dubrovnik. The total walk around the city walls is around 2km long and can easily be completed with a few cafe pit stops. We were there during the crazy heat wave and it was up to 90 degrees Fahrenheit every day. Definitely bring along water and sunscreen if you plan to walk the city walls. Try to do it early in the day to beat the heat and the crowds.
Lokrum Island: You can’t visit Croatia without some time on the Adriatic Sea! Lokrum is a small island just 15 minutes by boat from Dubrovnik and a popular place to go swimming or just to relax away from the city. Boats depart from the old port about every half an hour, making it really easy to visit. Peacocks and rabbits run wild, and the island is the home to the original GoT Iron Throne. This was a great way to escape the crowds!

Where to eat:
Buza Bar: This is the best place to watch the sunset! They only serve drinks. You can also bring a towel and swim here.
Orsan Yachting Club Restaurant: The seafood here was amazing! We sat right by the water, which was a little weird to see fish swimming around next to us while eating seafood. The service was great here too. We had some really good Croatian wine here.
Lacroma Restaurant: This restaurant is located on Lokrum island. We sat on the terrace and a family of peacocks walked right next to our table! They must get fed all the time. I had an amazing octopus salad here.
